More than three out of four used cars bought this year were sourced privately and not from dealers, according to car history check company Motorcheck.ie, writes Brian Byrne.
But the value of the private transactions would likely be lower, as the top 20 used car models sold privately are almost all over 10 years old.
The top 20 used models bought from dealers range from 2004-2010, the majority five years old or less.
