Cup competition for GT86 race derivative

Toyota in Europe has announced a dedicated motorsport competition based on the racing version of the GT86, the Continental Irish Sports Car of the Year 2013, writes Brian Byrne.

The GT86 CS-V3 uses the same 200hp engine as the standard road car, with special racing suspension and upgraded brakes and has already proven to be a class-winner as a prototype in VLN racing events.

At €45,815 in Germany, the car is a relatively cost-effective vehicle for racing and the prototype has run over 7,000kms in races so far with a perfect reliability record. It won the V3 Class in the 2012 Nurburgring 24 Hours.

TMG GT86 Cup is exclusively for GT86 CS-V3 entrants and offers attractive prize money as well as the thrill of competition on the legendary Nordschleife.
