The C-X75 supercar that Jaguar wowed visitors to the Paris Motor Show with in 2010 will not, after all, be built, writes Brian Byrne.
The company was going to build a limited run of 250 of the extraordinarily sexy hybrid at a price tag of some €1.1m each. But after initial work with the Williams F1 team in development of the carbon fibre chassis and the hybrid technology, the project has now been mothballed.
The reason is the doldrums in which the European car market languishes.
The car was to have been powered by a 1.6 petrol engine and electric motors, with a 322km/h top speed and CO2 emissions of 99g/km.
The concept shown at the 2010 Paris show powered by four electric in-wheel motors and two turbine engines.
