The Sting Ray is back

This is the car that wowed the Detroit International Auto Show this week, from an American perspective anyhow.

The Corvette Stingray revives a variant of America's supercar from 1963, with an extremely sexy look that is underpinned by an all-new chassis and new powertrain.

The 6.2 V8 outputs 450hp and the 0-60mph is less than four seconds.

In the original car, the name was in two words, Sting Ray. The power output was 360hp, later increased to 375hp. The former engine offered a 5.6sec 0-60mph.
