Volvo has improved the C02 and fuel efficiency of its all-wheel-drive and automatic cars, writes Trish Whelan.
New S80, V70, S60 and V60 D3 and D4 Geartronic versions will emit under 130g/km C02, which is a 5 percent improvement, leading to lower road tax of €270. This equates to a saving of €120 a year on road tax.
C02 emissions are down 11 percent on S60 D3/D4 Geartronic which now produces 126g/km C02 (down from 142g/km) and returns 58.9 mpg. These improvements have helped reduce both the retail price and the road on this vehicle.
The XC60 D4 FWD Geartronic also benefits from the latest enhancements. Fuel economy rises to 47.1mpg and C02 is down to 159g/km. The corresponding fall in VRT band sees these cars reduce in price.
All-wheel-drive versions have also seen the same improvements, and are set to deliver significant savings to company car drivers and their employers.
XC60 (pictured above) and XC70 D5 AWD manual versions will now emit under 140g/km C02 which means a lower road tax of €280.
