The new generation Skoda Octavia goes officially on sale next Tuesday in Ireland at a starting price of €18,995.
Longer and wider than the outgoing car, it also has a longer wheelbase and best-in class luggage capacity.
The engines at launch include a 1.2 TSI petrol with 54mpg equivalent and CO2 emissions of 121g/km. A 105hp diesel with 74mpg equivalent and a 99g/km CO2 rating is expected to be the most popular, at pricing from €22,195. A 2.0 diesel is also available, and DSG automatic and 6-speel manuals are transmission options beyond the basic 5-speed, depending on engine. There are 1.4 and 1.8 petrols available also.
It's 20 years since the first Octavia model was launched in Ireland.
