Buyers in Britain are becoming increasingly interested in buying petrol cars which are making a strong come back in the used car market as buyers realise they do not cover enough miles to justify the extra purchase price for diesel cars.
Petrol cars such as the Peugeot 107 and 308 and Toyota Aygo and Yaris are now being preferred there to diesel models, particularly in urban areas. Smaller cars from Ford, Kia, Mazda, Toyota and Suzuki are also in high demand.
Five door models are in particular demand as consumers look to run a petrol as their main family car. Currently a typical 3-4 year old used petrol 5-door model costs £4,500, around £1,000 less than the equivalent diesel.
In Britain, diesel is more expensive than petrol.
