Mercedes, Renault, talking large vans

Next Sprinter with Renault?Daimler and Renault may be expanding their van partnership to producing a large van based on the next generation Sprinter.

According to reports on Bloomberg, the companies are in 'early talks' on the project. The two carmakers already share a venture based on Renault's Kangoo, with the Mercedes-Benz Citan as the Daimler variant.

A contract between VW and Daimler which gives both companies their current Crafter and Sprinter models respectively comes to an end in 2016, and VW plans to develop its replacement on its own.

The Sprinter is a global model for Daimler, being built in Germany, the US, Argentina and China.
