American Airlines have today launched a daily nonstop service between Dublin Airport and New York's John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) giving customers travelling from Dublin nonstop connections from JFK to cities throughout North, Central and South America, writes Trish Whelan.
The new flight is in addition to American's existing nonstop service from Dublin to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). The route will be operated with a two-class Boeing 757-200 with 181 seats.
The new service is operated as part of American's joint business agreement with fellow oneworld members British Airways and Iberia, connecting travellers to the US, Caribbean and Latin American from more than 125 cities throughout Europe. It also provides American's customers access to countless destinations worldwide through nonstop service from Dublin on British Airways and Iberia to the carriers' respective hubs in London and Madrid.
Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar TD says "It's great to see new services being launched during the year of the Gathering, particularly to an airport as symbolic as New York JFK. The new service will go some way to meeting rising demand for services, with visits from North America to Ireland already up over 16 percent in the first quarter of this year.
