Ford switches on electric Focus

Ford has begun European production of the electric version of the Focus, writes Brian Byrne.

The car will have a range of 160km on a full 3-4 hour charge, and a 2-3 hour intermediate charge will provide 100km range.

A new user interface called SmartGauge calculates and displays driving range based on remaining energy; the driver’s unique braking and acceleration inputs; and the use of accessories such as climate control and audio systems.

First customers will receive their car in July.
