Peugeot in Ireland has launched the new 2008 small Crossover with an aim to win 10 percent of the B segment SUV market here, writes Brian Byrne.
Based on the 208 hatch, but longer and taller, the 2008 prices start from €18,595 plus delivery charges for the 1.2 VTi 82bhp petrol Access version. Diesels start at €19,515 for the 1.4 HDi 70bhp Access version. CO2 emissions across the range start from 98g/km. Load volumes range from 360-1194 litres.
There are three grades available here, Access, Active and Allure. Standard specification across the range includes LED daytime running lights, air conditioning, ESP, cruise control + speed limiter, six airbags, front electric windows, a spare wheel, roof rails and child safety locks.
Grip Control, available from €255 on Allure models, is a system patented by the PSA Group that optimises traction in conditions of poor grip. The driver can decide at any time to select Snow, Off-Road, Sand, ESP Off or Standard mode using the dial located on the centre console.
Park Assist and Sat Nav are other options.
