Opel is recalling a name from the late 70s when it unveils its Monza Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, writes Brian Byrne.
The sleek coupe will feature gull-wing doors that are unlikely to make it into a production model, but the style and build elements will be a forecast of how Opels will be in coming cars.
It's also likely to be the appeal test for a coupe version of the Cascada convertible already on sale.
The Concept will also highlght Opel's take on future connectivities, including a 3D LED projection display system and smartphone integration.
The Monza Concept will also offer a view into coming powertrains from the GM-owned brand, including fuel cells in which General Motors has invested a lot of research and development money.
The primary powertrain for the Frankfurt Concept will be electric drive with a range-extender system based on the new 1.0 SIDI 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, in this instance using compressed natural gas as its fuel.
