The Audi A3 saloon has been launched in Ireland at a starting price of €29,950 on the road, writes Brian Byrne.
There are three equipment levels — Entry level, SE and S-Line.
Two TFSI petrol engines and one TDI are available at the moment, 1.4 TFSI 125hp, 1.4TFSI 140hp Cylinder on Demand (CoD) and 2.0 TDI 150hp.
At 425 litres, there's more boot space than A3 Sportback but with the same level of cabin space.
The Irish distributor is targeting 500 units of the saloon in sales for next year, representing about a third of all A3 derivitives.
The expected biggest seller, a diesel model, will cost in the region of €35,000 on the road.
