BMW 4 Series goes on sale next weekend

BMW's new 4 Series coupé will go on sale here next Saturday, 5th October priced from €47,130 OTR, writes Trish Whelan.

This sporty two-door, mid-sized coupé is offered with a choice of rear-wheel-drive or xDrive, all-wheel-drive, and is one of the sportiest models in the BMW portfolio.

Three BMW TwinPower Turbo engines will be available initially, with three more to follow within a month of launch.

Available now are the 2.0 four-cylinder 428i petrol unit and 420d turbo-diesel, and the 3.0 six-cylinder 435i. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard but all versions will be available with an optional eight-speed Sport automatic transmission. In every case, fuel consumption and C02 emissions are lower for the automatic model - down to 121 g/km in the case of the 420d. C02 emissions start at 121g/km.

Five trim levels are - SE, Sport, Modern, Luxury and M Sport and all provide extensive equipment upgrades over the outgoing car, while still allowing full scope for buyers to personalise their cars.

Standard equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats, Servotronic steering, multi-function leather steering wheel and Xenon headlights. Leather upholstery, two-zone air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth, USB, Comfort Go, Drive Performance Control, iDrive Controller, 6.5-inch colour screen and automatic lights/wipers and boot opening, complete the standard specification of all models across the range.

Numerous optional Connected Drive media packages such as BMW Professional Multimedia Navigation system, Real Time Traffic Information, Head-up display, Active Cruise Control, park assist to name but some, are also available.
