Mazda to showcase car comms system

Mazda is to showcase its own work on car-to-car communications systems this month, using an Atenza (Mazda6) saloon equipped to communicate with streetcars in Hiroshima, writes Brian Byrne.

The idea is that the system will help reduce accidents, congestion and environmental impact. The car will feature at the 20th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress in Tokyo in October.

The aim is that the car and the streetcars in Hiroshima's public transport system will be able to warn each other of imminent collisions.
