The driving dynamics of the new Porsche 911 Turbo models combined with the pure driving pleasure of driving in an open-top sports car, was the formula behind two new flagship 911 Cabriolet models, the Turbo and Turbo S, writes Trish Whelan.
Both will be unveiled to the public for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show on 20 November, but we're giving you a preview here. Their global debut will mark some 50 years of the 911 and coincides with the 40th anniversary of the 911 Turbo.
The cars deliver the same blend of performance and efficiency offered by the Coupe model unveiled just a few months ago. The turbocharged 3.8- litre, 6-cylinder engine delivers 520hp in the open-top Turbo and 560 in the S model. They can accelerate from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.5 and 3.2 seconds respectively. Both return 9.9 L/100kms (28.5mpg) and have C02 emissions of 231g/km. This represents 30hp more power and 0.2 seconds faster for that speed trip. They're also up to 15 percent more efficient.
