Why Tesla now sounds cheap

You've heard of Croatian carmaker Rimac, of course, writes Brian Byrne. Nope, we hadn't either.

But they're planning an electric sports car that will travel 500km between charges, and has a claimed 0-100km/h sprint of 2.8secs.

The company's Concept One has a carbon fibre body and a pair of dual magnet oil cooled electric motors. Output is 600kW and they can rev to 10,000rpm.

There are just 88 production copies planned. At €727,000 a pop.
