Ford's new generation Transit Connect van will go on sale in Ireland in November with a starting price of €15,500, writes Brian Byrne.
The brand new van will come in short and long wheelbase variants like its predecessor, and the main seller is expected to be the 75hp 1.6 diesel.
The new Transit Connect has just been announced the 2014 International Van of the Year. It's the fifth time Ford has taken the award, most recently last year with the new Transit Custom.
Bluetooth connectivity will be standard in Ireland, and the Trend grade at €1,000 more is expected to account for 35 percent of sales. The Trend has two passenger seats as standard, and a thru-load capability for long cargo with the passenger seat folded.
Both lengths can take two full Euro pallets, and the long version can also load a full pallet through the sliding side door.
