SsangYong Korando wins Towcar Award

The SsangYong Korando has won the Caravan Club Towcar of the Year UK Award in its price category, writes Trish Whelan.

It's a great boost for SsangYong Ireland which has recently brought the brand back to this country.

Dealer Development Manager of SsangYong Motors Ireland, John Keogh, says the victory has come at a brilliant time for the Irish arm of the marque. He said "This award not only highlights one of the most impressive features of the Korando - its two tonne towing capability - it also sends out a strong message to Irish consumers the brand is being recognised as a leader in the UK."

The entire Irish SsangYong range comes with a five year warranty and road side assistance.

The annual awards ceremony is particularly highly regarded among the agricultural, equestrian and travel community in the UK. Judges said the Korando 'pulled well through all the gears and gave a smooth ride'. They added "Stability at speed was good and it tackled the hill route with enthusiasm. A very economical vehicle, and a worthy class winner."

Korando is styled by renowned Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design, and is powered by a 2.0 turbo diesel engine producing 360Nm of torque, with C02 emissions of 147g/km. Prices start at €25,995.

SsangYong is being imported into Ireland under the Harris group. There are currently 10 SsangYong dealers covering Ireland.
