
The new BMW electric car, the i3, is available to order in Ireland from this week at a starting price of €34,010 on the road, writes Brian Byrne.
Deliveries of ordered i3s will begin in January, and there's just one dealership in the Republic of Ireland, Joe Duffy Motors in Dublin.

BMW Ireland says at a conservative estimate there will be 30 units sold next year in Ireland, although that figure could double if there are product supplies to meet it.
A version with a range-extender petrol engine that recharges the battery will sell for €41,040, but the Irish company doesn't expect that owners here will feel the need for that.
