New Qashqai in January
Nissan's new generation Qashqai will go on sale in January at a starting price of €24,495, writes Brian Byrne.
With a brand new design reflecting that of the new generation X-Trail shown at Frankfurt, the designers are hoping to move the very successful nameplate forward to attract an even wider audience.
The powertrains also echo new thinking, with the petrol engine option having a mere 1.2 litres capacity. The diesel engines are 1.5 and 1.6, and CO2 emissions are from 99g/km, a major move forward in economy.
More than 20,000 copies of the first generation car have been sold in Ireland since it was launched in 2007. The new one is longer, lower and wider than the outgoing version, and a package of safety technologies bring to the sub-segment a new level of attraction for buyers who value this characteristic.
More details of grades, specifications and prices will be published by the end of this month.
