It appears that over 12,000 mobile phones were stolen during 2013. This means an estimated €5 million worth of mobile phones, most of which were smart phones, were reported stolen in Ireland in the last 12 months, and this is just the cases that were reported.

The number of phone thefts here has climbed dramatically since 2011, with an increase of more than one third in the last 12 months alone. The message is to be extra vigilant and take heed of the advice of the Crime Prevention Day of Action, promoting a rang eof measures that you can take to reduce the chances of your phone being stolen, particularly in the run-up to Christmas.
