Mercedes reveals new V-Class

A new generation Mercedes-Benz mid-sized MPV coming to Ireland next year is designed to be both stylish and also offer a luxury opportunity in the field, writes Trish Whelan from Munich.

The V-Class — known previously as the Viano — is now a much more distinctive vehicle with improved interior space and many technical and safety enhancements. It was revealed tonight at an exclusive press event in Munich.

The car is targeted at families with leisure lifestyles, as well as hotels, school bus and bed and breakfast owners, shuttle service operators, and health and remedial service providers. It will also be useful as a mobile office space.

Four individual seats can be folded forward to allow easy access. All rear seats can be fully removed for van-like cargo space.

Lifestyle Choice
Power will be by three 2.0 4-cylinder diesels. There will be a choice of three body lengths.

Mercedes-Benz sales manager in Ireland Ciaran Allen says the distributor expects to introduce the new V-Class at prices no more than 'a moderate increase' above current levels for the Viano, (circa €50,000).
