SsangYong dealer Bill Cullen carried a baton containing a message from President Michael D Higgins that celebrates the Irish language today in a relay that spans 700km.
Bill led students from Colaiste Cillian Secondary School, Clondalkin as they took part in Rith 2014, a bi-annual charity relay organised by Cumann na Gaeilge and sponsored by SsangYong.
Schoolchildren started the relay in Cork last Friday and the baton containing the Presidential message reached Dublin on Monday. It will continue to be passed from school to school across the 700km route until the final stop at Belfast on 15 March. The relay coincides with Seachtain na Gaeilge and 40,000 people are expected to take part in total.
