Uber-BMW on the way

Got it made and want a BMW, but the 7 Series just doesn't do it for you? ... well, maybe wait for the upcoming 9 Series which will look a lot like this Gran Lusso Coupe showed off from Pininfarina last May, writes Brian Byrne.

The car will use a new lightweight platform that will also underpin the next 7 Series as well as some Rolls Royce offerings.

You can start saving now for the 9, planned to go on sale in 2016. The main target is the Mercedes-Benz S600 Maybach.

(Nope, we haven't driven that, either. It's only just about ready for production.)
