An easytrip survey of 500 motorists asked respondents what were their worst mishaps when enjoying a holiday break in Ireland.
It seems a flat car battery (32%) followed by running out of fuel (26%) were among the mishaps that motorists dread most.
In preparation for along road journey, the survey found that:
* 86 percent Google their route in advance
* 74 percent fill the car up with fuel the day before
* 40 percent stock up with snacks and drinks
* 23 percent check oil, water and tyre pressure
Commenting on the survey, Ciara O'Brien, General Manager of easy trip said "We sometimes forget what a beautiful country we have on our doorstep so it's fantastic to see so many people planning to soak up all that Ireland has to offer this summer.
"We would advise all holiday makers to pre-empt any glitches that could potentially ruin a trip by making sure your car is in top condition before setting off, planning your route in advance, taking regular breaks, especially when driving long distances, and above all by driving safely and patiently at all times."
