Peugeot celebrates Youngest-Ever Range

Peugeot 108
Peugeot's new 508 joins the Lion Brand's stable at a time when the company is enjoying its youngest ever range in its 125-year history, writes Trish Whelan.

The 508, which arrives here late 2014, will initially be available as a saloon or estate. The 508 RXH with HYbrid4 technology is set to expand the range a year later.

The new 108 compact mini, with a 3-door and 5-door hatchback or a convertible body-style to choose from, arrives this July.

The 308 SW also drives into Ireland this July fitted with a range of Peugeot's latest generation Euro 6 petrol and diesel engines.

Also due this summer is the brand's new Boxer van with a modern design, new comfort and safety equipment and new 2.2 HDi engines.

This is also an important year for the Peugeot brand with the goal of rapid return to profitable growth.

Global sales of the brand at the end of May 2014 were up 5.4 percent to 683,000 units. In Europe (30 countries), the brand sold 407,000 vehicles representing an increase of almost 14 percent, or twice the market growth. This growth takes place within the most profitable market segment, in that of the retail market, in which the brand gained almost 1 percent market share in the first fig months of the year.

The brand has greatly benefited from the success of its latest launches, especially the 2008 crossover which has exceeded 150,000 sales, and the new 308 which has already reached 100,000 sales, with the SW version launched in April already off to a fast start in Europe, ahead of its summer arrival in Ireland.
