Skoda gives Fabia more sporty design

Skoda has released a sketch of its latest generation Fabia ahead of the Paris Motor Show in early October, writes Trish Whelan.

The Fabia subcompact has been given a more dynamic, sharper and sportier design than the current model.

Fabia is the first Skoda to use elements of the VisionC concept car which we told you about at the Geneva Motor Show last March. It also has styling cues from the carmaker's motorsports unit.

The third-generation Fabia is 30mm (1.2 inches) lower and 90mm (3.5 inches) wider than the current car.

The Czech brand says the brand will sell five-door hatchback and station wagon variants of the new Fabia.

The Fabia is expected to likely share the Polo's three-cylinder powertrains with the most frugal Greenline model said to use Emergency Braking function 3 litres of fuel per 100km (65mpg).

Further details when we have them.
