Car sales in August were up 32 percent on the same month last year with 4,873 cars sold which is good news for the motor industry here.
Renault Group, after its best July on record, followed with a good August, coming in at number two in the passenger car market.
Dacia saw an increase of 5.3 percent in market share in August, and Duster was the best-seller for the month with almost 800 sold since the start of the new registration year.
The marque's range of LCVs took a 5.1 percent share in August.
Renault's bank Renault Finance lent over €4.5 million to Renault and Dacia individual and business customers last month, a 34 percent increase on the same month last year. Take up of Renault Finance's PCP(personal contract plan) is continuing to grow in popularity with Irish customers, and in August alone, 35 percent of all passenger car contracts were PCP.
Renault finance has lent over €60 million so far since January which is up 53 percent on the same period last year.
