Golf AllTrak for Paris debut

Volkswagen is getting into the go-almost-anywhere compact estate business with the Golf Alltrak to debut at next week's Paris Motor Show, writes Brian Byrne.

Based on a Golf Estate, it comes with AWD and a selection of four engines, along with higher ground clearance and protective pieces on wheel arches and other vulnerable spots.

It will handle trailer loads of up to 2,000kg. Sales are expected to start next summer in RHD markets.
