New Kia Sorento for Paris auto show

Kia has unveiled its new Sorento, saying it aims to sell 270,000 units of the SUV globally next year, seeking to maintain its momentum in the U.S., Europe and other key markets, writes Trish Whelan.

The Sorento, which competes against models like the Nissan X-Trail, has been given its first major makeover in more than five years.

The new Sorento, which was designed at Kia's studios in Korea, Germany and the U.S., has been given a lower roofline, higher beltline, more muscular stance, rounded shoulders at the rear and deeply sculpted body surfaces.

It also gets the larger, more upright 'tiger-nose' grille as seen on other models in the company's range.

New Sorento will make its debut on October 2 at the Paris Motor Show and go on sale in Europe in the first half of next year.
