Audi has updated the A6 family.
The new Audi A6 and A6 Avant will come with new engines, transmissions and headlights as well as a new infotainment system, writes Trish Whelan.
The A6 allroad quattro and the S6, S6 Avant and RS 6 sport models also come with many new features.
The design of the new A6 has been honed as part of the model refresh with changes made to the single frame grille, the headlights, air inlets, bumpers, side sills, rear lights and tailpipes. Optional extras are headlights with LED technology, combined with turn signals.
The engine lineup for both models include three TFSI petrol units of between 190hp and 333hp; and five TDI diesels ranging from 150hp to 326hp. All are Euro 6 compliant. C02 emissions are down by as much as 22 percent. The most efficient petrol and diesel engines bear the 'ultra' label. The 2.0 TDI ultra, with 150hp, achieves 4.2 L/100kms and emits 109g/km C02 emissions, placing it in Tax Band A3 of €190 p/a.
The top petrol engine is the 3.0 TFSI while the top diesel is the 3.0 available with either 218hp or 272hp. There's also a 3.0 TDI clean diesel biturbo which produces 320hp. The high performance diesel is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox while all other engine variants work with either a new six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed S tronic.
Delivery of the new A6 family will start in Q4 of this year. Irish pricing will be confirmed later this month.
