From March 2015, the CR-V will be offered with a more powerful diesel engine, a 1.6 -DTEC unit producing 160hp which is matched to four-wheel drive. From next June, this engine will also come with the option of an efficient nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.6 four-cylinder diesel replaces the previous 2.2 diesel. When matched to the six-speed manual transmission, the new higher power diesel engine produced 160hp and 350 Nm while emitting a sub 130g/km of C02 - an 11 percent improvement compared to the previous unit. With the CR-V, the new model will also become available with a new nine-speed automatic transmission, with C02 emissions of under 135g/km - which is 25 percent better than its predecessor.
The two-wheel drive diesel CR-V, available with a manual transmission, will continue to be equipped with the 120hp 1.6 diesel engine.
Honda also showed a prototype of their recently-announced compact SUV, the HR-V, with front wheel drive, which is due to go on sale next summer with two powertrain options, a 1.5 i-VTEC petrol and the lightweight 1.6 diesel. Both are matched to a six-speed manual transmission while the 1.5 i-VTEC unit can also be fitted with a CVT alternative.
A new European Jazz due to go on sale in autumn 2015, will come with a 1.3 i-VTEC petrol engine supported by either a six-speed manual or a CVT transmission.
