Mondeo here in November
Ford's new Mondeo will arrive in Ireland in November with a starting price of €28,995, writes Trish Whelan from Malaga, Spain.
It will include availability of safety technologies such as pedestrian detection and rear seat-belts that inflate in a collision.
Power trains will include Ford's first hybrid, a 2.0 petrol engine and electric motor with lithium-ion battery, due to arrive in 2015.
The launch engines will be 1.6 and 2.0 diesels, and later there will be 1.0 and 1.5 EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine options.
Two grades will be available in Ireland, Zetec and Titanium, initially in 5-door and wagon variants. The Mondeo nameplate was first introduced to Ireland 20 years ago.
I drove the 2.0 diesel today, and found it a really fine car, and I'm looking forward to the 1.5 EcoBoost tomorrow.
