Volkswagen recalls 1,256 Polo TDI vehicles

Volkswagen Polo
Volkswagen Ireland is recalling 1,256 VW Polo 1.2 TDI cars produced between 2010 and 2014 fitted with the 1.2 TDI 70bhp engine, writes Trish Whelan.

The reason for the recall is that VW has fond that, in isolated cases, because of the pressure pulsations in the fuel lines and the engine pulsations when driving, vibrations can be transmitted to the cover of the fuel filter. This can crack the filter cover in the area of the supply neck, and can lead lead to a fuel smell inside the car and a leak of diesel fuel.

VW's Quality Assurance says there is no cause for concern and letters will be sent to owners of the affected vehicles where they will be asked to arrange an appointment to have the work completed at their authorised VW service agent. Any work carried out as part of this recall will be free of charge to the customer.

Owners who are concerned that they may be affected by the recall can contact Volkswagen customer service on the lo-call number 1850 812 761.
