The Maybach name is to be revived by Daimler as a sub-brand within the Mercedes-Benz S-Class range, writes Brian Byrne.
The nomenclature will be Mercedes-Maybach, and will be used on an S 600, S 500, and S 400 4MATIC, with V12, V8 and V6 engines respectively.
The first of the cars will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show later in November. The individual Maybach brand was dropped in 2012 because of poor sales of the ultra-luxury car since its first revival in 2002.
The Maybach-Manufaktur car company was originally founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach and his son, originally as a subsidiary of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH.
