The resurgence of tourist business into Ireland is reflected today in the announcement that Europcar has recorded over one million rental days for 2014, writes Brian Byrne.
The result year on year represents a 10 percent growth for the company, which intends to invest €5.4m to cater for growth and new franchises during 2015.
In 2014, tourist numbers increased for the fourth year in a row including a 10.3 percent rise in overseas visitors in the first six months of 2014, compared to the same period in 2013. This accounted for 324,000 extra people visiting Ireland during this period
Europcar Ireland has opened seven new branches in Athlone, Galway, Cavan, Waterford, Navan, Cork City and Portlaoise over the past two years and has plans for further growth in 2015 with the opening of three additional branches. This expansion will create an estimated 20 jobs through partnerships with garages and the Europcar franchise department, bringing the total number of branches to 16.
