BMW's new generation 6 Series coupe and convertible and 6 Series Gran Coupe will be unveiled at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, writes Brian Byrne.
With significant exterior styling revisions and more luxurious interiors, the new cars will also feature as standard the BMW ConnectedDrive Navigation and infotainment system.
Turbochrged inline six and V8 engines will include the 3.0-litre 313hp turbodiesel engine in the 640d models and the similar-capacity 320hp petrol engine in 640i versions. These come with CO2 emissions as low as 139g/km on the 640d SE Coupe.
The BMW kidney grille has been reduced from 10 to nine bars, to allow for more cooling air to the more powerful engines.
RHD versions go on sale in March.
