New engine from Kia

Kia's new 1.0 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will make its world premiere at next month's Geneva Motor Show in a new generation cee'd GT, writes Brian Byrne.

The car will show a 120hp version of the engine which was entirely developed in-house by Kia. It features a number of innovations, including a dual-thermostat cooling systems for the cylinder head and block.

The target for the development of the new engine was to achieve a 15 percent improvement in efficiency compared to the current 1.6 GDI petrol engine.
