Kia launches New Sorento SUV

Kia's third-generation Sorento SUV will be on sale in the brand's showrooms from tomorrow, writes Trish Whelan.

It is longer, lower, and wider than the previous model.

Kia Motors Ireland are offering 2 AWD variants of the new car - the EX at €38,995, and the expected volume seller Platinum at €43,995.

Power continues to come from the 2.2, 197hp Euro 6 diesel unit which sees a drop in C02 from 155 to 149 for the MT, and still remaining in Band C of €390 for annual road tax.

The entry level 5-seater has as standard 17-inch alloys, rear privacy glass, 'super vision' instrument cluster and 7-inch Satellite Navigation with reversing camera.

The Platinum is a 7-seater with a luxury specification that adds a panoramic sunroof, Xenon lights, leather and heated (front and second row) seats, heated steering wheel, and an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat. The Platinum automatic (at €49,500) adds 18-inch wheels and an electronic parking brake.

At today's launch of the new Sorento, James Brooks, Managing Director, Kia Motors Ireland said "Sorento is one of the most recognisable model names associated with the brand since we entered this market just over 10 years ago.

"In this time, Sorento has evolved from a traditional 4x4 to a more refined urban SUV. It reflects everything the Kia brand now stands for in terms of styling, engineering, technology and quality. We are confident that Irish customers in the market for a D segment SUV will take to the Sorento the the same way that C segment CUV customers have taken to Sportage." He added that feedback from dealers has been extremely positive.

The New Sorento comes with a 7 Year/150,000km warranty, 3 Years' European roadside assistance, and a 12 Year anti-perforation warranty.
