BMW will be revealing its next generation 5 Series next Thursday, writes Brian Byrne.
The car will offer high-tech safety and semi-autonomous driving facilities, including lane-keeping, potential emergency sensing that includes warning of crossroads possible crashes.
A shorter version of the platform with carbon-fibre elements which carries the current 7 Series is used on the new car, slated to go on sale next spring.
A plug-in hybrid version is expected to be available as part of the powertrain options.
