Irishman leads global Fiesta launch

A young Irishman is the Product Development Launch Manager of the new Ford Fiesta, which was launched in Ireland this week, writes Trish Whelan.

Seamus McDermott has worked for Ford for 18 years, ever since his undergraduate experience in 1999 with the company in England. After completing his Masters in 2003 at Queens University Belfast, he joined Ford's Product Development team at Dunford in Essex.

Today, Seamus works as a Global Programme Manager with Ford, based in Cologne, Germany.

He says the most exciting thing about working on the new Fiesta was the people he worked with. "To create a successor for the most successful small car in Europe, we had to pull together a really special team with tons of energy and enthusiasm for the car," he says. "It was a great experience to work with them — I will have many lasting memories."

Seamus is pictured with Ford Ireland MD and chairman Ciaran McMahon, at the Irish press launch of the new Fiesta in Johnstown Garden centre, Naas, Co Kildare.
