Motorsport Ireland Weekend Round-up

Ian White from Kilkenny, already the winner of four Hewison Autotest Championship rounds this season, added another yesterday when he finished 4.8 seconds clear of Ashley Lamont  in TDC’s Howard Wilde Memorial event at Mondello Park to further increase his points lead, writes Richard Burke.

White led narrowly at the end of the opening lap, from Lamont, with Leitrim’s David Thompson close behind in third spot. Thompson took over runner up position during the second attempt at the four different tests, but Lamont retook the place on the final run.

Former Hewison champions Eamonn Byrne and Peter Grimes finished fourth and fifth, with each of them scoring class wins, while Piers MacFheorais won the well supported class for Road-going cars from Richard Meeke, driving a pair of Mazda MX5s.
