The system is being tried out amongst 1,000 employees of SEAT and people working at Pier 01 Barcelona Tech City.
An app is used by any participant to reserve a car, which can be accessed by a digital key.
Those behind the project are working on the basis that an estimated 36m people will be using carsharing services by 2025.
