Mondeo Hybrid Wagon Variant for 2019 |
An enhanced range of Ford Mondeo Hybrid petrol-electric vehicles to launch in Europe next year will include a new wagon variant with greater load-carrying capability developed exclusively for customers in Europe that will arrive here in March 2019, writes Trish Whelan.
Specifications and pricing for the enhanced Mondeo Hybrid range will be released closer to its on-sale date. However the company says it will deliver ‘attractive fuel efficiency and C02 emission performance and be a compelling alternative to diesel powertrains for fleet and private customers’.
The Mondeo Hybrid is currently offered as a four-door with a sports coupe-inspired profile with low roofline and also as an upscale Mondeo Hybrid Vignale variant. The four-door delivers fuel efficiency from 4.4 L/100kms (64.2mpg) and C02 emissions from 101 g/km.
Ford is investing $11 billion in electrified powertrains and plans to deliver 16 fully electric vehicles within a global portfolio of 40 EVs through 2022.
The Mondeo Hybrid powertrain - which delivers 187hp - uses an electric motor with a 2.0 petrol engine and a generator to enable regenerative charging of the 1.4 kWh battery located behind the rear seats.
The first hybrid electric vehicle manufactured by Ford in Europe, the Mondeo Hybrid is assembled alongside the petrol- and diesel-engine Mondeo range at Ford’s state-of-the-art facility in Valencia, Spain.
