Passat poised to break 30 million

The Volkswagen Passat has achieved the distinction of being the best selling mid-sized car in the world, writes Brian Byrne.

The nameplate was originally launched in 1973 and some 29m units have been sold globally since.

Passat is sold on every continent. The next generation of the model will arrive in the first half of next year. It will be the ninth iteration of the nameplate.
