The new Volvo S60 saloon and V60 estate have received the maximum five-star rating in their 2018 EuroNCAP safety tests, writes Trish Whelan. They are among the safest cars tested under the new tougher regime.
Their top rating continues a five-star streak for the Volvo line-up and underlines the brand’s reputation for consistently putting some of the safest cars available on the road.
The S60 and V60 share the brand’s own Scalable Product Architecture platform and safety technology with their larger sibling XC60 and top of the line 90 series cars.
Volvo Cars’ active safety package City Safety with Autobrake technology comes as standard on all Volvos. As a world-first on the S60 and V60, City Safety now also engages auto braking to mitigate oncoming collisions.
It is still the only safety system on the market to help recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals.
