Hyundai's Kona has won the North American Utility vehicle of the Year 2019, writes Brian Byrne.
Available with both traditional and electric powertrains, the car faces Jaguar's I-Pace in the final shakeup as well as the Honda-owned Acura RDX which is a version of the CR-V.
The jury comprised automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. The Kona substantially outpaced both final competitors.
The car has been on sale here since 2017.
