Nissan Qashqai is Ireland's top seller for 191 sales

The Nissan Qashqai has reaffirmed its status as Ireland’s best-selling car and best-selling crossover of all time, writes Trish Whelan.

Demand for the car has been exceptional throughout the first six months of the year with 2,877 new car buyers making it their car of choice, according to figures for the 191 sales period.

James McCarthy, CEO of Nissan Ireland said the Qashqai’s success ’is because it is a true all-rounder, offering the best design, spec and value for money on the market’. “The reputation and quality of the Qashqai is unquestioned by Irish car buyers who know what to expect from a Qashqai. It delivers on all fronts with a choice of petrol and diesel engines across the range.”

He added: “Ten years after its launch, the Nissan Qashqai continues to pioneer the way with intelligent driving technologies like Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control and Intelligent Lane Departure Warning along with driver awareness technologies like Blind Spot Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and an Adaptive Front Lighting System.”

The car company says customers have also been attracted by the car’s easy connectivity to their smartphone which provides them with access to their music on the move and to their Facebook newsfeed, tweets and TripAdvisor tips while stationary.

Nissan has sold more than 50,000 units of the car since its launch over 10 years ago and buoyant sales throughout 2019 have helped Nissan to increase its share of the new car market to 3.56pc up to the end of June.

As the car industry shifts its focus to the 192 sales period, Nissan is giving new car buyers the opportunity to avail of up to €5,500 scrappage on their old car when they buy a 192 Nissan before 31 July 2019. Terms and conditions apply.
