Only an hour’s drive from Dublin, the new boutique Spa at Kilkea Castle just outside Castledermot in Co Kildare, has officially opened as the perfect escape for a luxurious pamper experience in the picturesque surrounds of the rolling 12th century estate, following an investment of €2 million, writes Trish Whelan.
The official opening, with invited guests, was held on Wednesday, 2 September with American owners Jay and Christy Cashman present. Broadcaster Kathryn Thomas was guest speaker.
With both day and overnight package options available, the new Spa offers five relaxing treatment rooms, including a spacious couples’ suite and salon services which include luxury pedicure chairs, nail desks, make-up stations and a blow dry bar. There is also a Thermal Suite featuring a custom-built hydrotherapy pool, steam room and sauna.
The Spa is a healing hub where a team of experienced stylists, therapists, aestheticians and beauty professionals will deliver superior, personalised treatments and features the most up to the minute technology and treatments in beauty from skincare brand Elemis - the world’s premier spa and skincare brand.
All beauty needs will be taken care of in The Beauty Lounge, where you can enjoy a range of services from manicures and pedicures, to lash and brow tints, as well as hair styling in the Blow Dry Bar. Expert make-up artists will create bespoke looks based on each individual’s preference using products from Charlotte Tilbury, Huda Beauty, MAC and Anastasia Beverly Hills.
Expectant mothers can also avail of treatments which have been carefully designed to massage the mum-to-be into a blissful state of relaxation.
Following treatments, guests can enjoy the tranquil surroundings in the Relaxation Suite with healthy refreshments.
Those feeling energetic, they can spend some time in the Fitness Suite with state-of-the-art peloton exercise bikes, elliptical machines, bench press, free weights and treadmills.
Guests can stay in one of the estate’s Lodges or elegant, uniquely designed Castle bedrooms with a delicious breakfast the following morning.
